U.S. production for the Mazda2 begins in November? All the lots near me have already cleared out the last of their 2014 Mazda2s. Also, I thought it was still up in the air whether we would get the 2015 Mazda2, because the old one sold so poorly (about 14k units a year IIRC)

The last Mazda2 wasn't optimized for fuel economy. Considering it had a 100 hp motor and only got 35 mpg highway (It's amazing that we can say 'only 35 mpg highway' now isn't it?) and wasn't the cheapest thing it sold pretty well in my opinion. I wanted one but they barely depreciate. I am definitely considering the new one.

They forced an old design car on us to see if it'd stick. Since everyone seems to be migrating towards smaller cars and SUVs, Mazda might have had this redesign in the works and knew the first 2 would just be a placeholder until a fully SKYACTIV one was ready.

So 2015 sees the Lancer Evolution Special Action Model debut? Is that a new Lancer EVO to go in line with the Lancer re-engineering, or this a final send-off for the EVO?

Seems odd that they're going to re-introduce the MazdaSpeed 3 only two years before the 3 itself gets a total redesign. Will the Speed disappear again like it did this year?

Yeah, not to sure about that, or the fact that the turbo 2.5 would be used in the CX-9. I know Mazda is probably out of Ford based V6 engines to use and has to put SOMETHING powerful in that 3-row SUV, but the same engine as a Speed3? Didn't they learn a lesson from the CX-7?
